Finding the Path

I can totally relate to the goat in the picture! My husband, bless his heart, calmly handles my daily rants. He listens to my stories about “what the goats did today.” He also takes time to look at each new rock I haul back to the porch for inspection. Rocks bring happiness, its comforting to think they have been here for everything. So this is how I became the Crazy Goat/Rock lady!

I’m a daughter, sister, mother, wife, meemaw, caretaker, rancher, nurse, dog mom, connector of resources, and empath. I’m also at a point of needing something real with limited BS. I understand being lost, frustrated, alone.

I began working in hospice around the same time my bonus mom was diagnosed with melanoma. I cared for her and was there until the moment she passed. While loss is a normal part of life, navigating after loss is quite a puzzle. It is a trauma that bonds us. Our normal changes. Too often, we add this to our already heavy load of cares.

But this isn’t the first death that has hit way too close to home! I had a stillborn little boy born full term when I was 21. His name was Cody and I was devastated. Several years later, the love of my life, Nathan, passed away at age 34 from aggressive cancer. I was left alone with 5 children. After Nathan’s death, I am pretty sure i had a mental breakdown and nobody realized because I just kept going. That’s what we do, we put on a brave face and march on.

Which brings us to today. I chose to leave hospice care. I realized grief care is subjective. There is no one size fits all. I set out to create a place for others to find release and support for their own grief. Sundance Healing Hearts was created because people need better options. Everyone faces deep sadness in their lives.

As we build our community, my hope and goal is to support people on their personal journey. My favorite movie of all time is “P.S. I Love You”. I watch it a couple times a year when I need to cry and find my base again. The line which touched me most deeply is near the end, it sums up what we need to remember. “In the end we are all alone, but if we are all alone then we are all in this together”.

My mission is to meet others where they are in their journey. I definitely do not have all the answers. I can listen and talk and extend resources or options that have helped me. This is me putting out to the universe, let me find those who need to heal their heart.

If you are looking for something, come here. This is somewhere to let down your guard. You can put your feet in the dirt, pet a goat, and pick up a rock. Let your soul rest.
